The devil and the world continue to convince most people that evil is good and good is evil. They trivialize sin and, as sin becomes more acceptable, try to make God seem unreasonable for calling bad things bad. This is the same trick the devil pulled in The Garden of Eden when he tried to make God seem unreasonable for requiring one sign of obedience from Adam and Eve.
If the world promotes something, question it. Compare it to what God says in His Word. There’s a reason that the world promotes sin: to get more people to reject the salvation that God offers to them through Jesus. People are exchanging years of indulgence for an eternity of torment.
